Parkview West
The design of Parkview West draws directly from the character and history of Spokane’s West End, a district long defined by auto shops, warehouses, and industrial grit. Form and material choices were conceived as a response to this context, creating a building that feels warm, familiar, and connected to its surroundings rather than overly new or out of place.
Patina panels introduce a sense of age and industry with a touch of playfulness, while awning windows recall the steel-framed glazing of neighboring historic buildings. Cantilevered decks feature steel grating inspired by the fire escapes that line First Avenue, grounding the project in a familiar visual language. At street level, generous landscaping, integrated benches, and pedestrian signage activate the sidewalk and invite community interaction, reinforcing the role of the ground floor as part of the public realm.
Parkview West stands as a contemporary addition to the West End that embraces its industrial heritage while fostering a lively, human-scaled streetscape.
