On a challenging “leftover” parcel, TallSkinny Cabin reimagines the lake house as a vertical retreat. The steep site, three stories above the water, demanded a unique arrangement of program that stacks living spaces in a slender form rather than spreading them across the land.
Arrival occurs by way of an artful steel bridge from the road above, leading directly into the uppermost level. From there, a progression down through the floors reveals intimate connections to the rocky cliff face, draped in moss and ferns, before reaching the lake’s edge. The ground level becomes the heart of the home — a gathering space that opens to a generous deck with creative seating and a built-in fire feature, offering the perfect setting for sunsets over the water.
TallSkinny Cabin transforms constraints into opportunities, creating a lakefront home defined by sequence, verticality, and connection to its dramatic site.
