Wake Up Call Headquarters

In 2021, local coffee franchise Wake Up Call set out to establish its first true headquarters — a project that would combine corporate offices, a roasting facility, and the brand’s first streetfront café. The chosen site, a long-neglected building in Spokane’s emerging Sprague–Union District, offered both opportunity and challenge as an adaptive reuse project in this up-and-coming neighborhood.

The design embraces an industrial-modern sensibility where form follows function. Materials are layered for contrast and texture: exposed timber end-grain interlocks with heavy solid surfaces, while translucent panels and chainmail introduce lightness and movement.

The result is a transformation that honors the building’s historic framework while exceeding the client’s ambitions. A fresh interplay of materials, furniture, and lighting reimagines the industrial past as a bold new home for the brand.
