Brick West Brewing Co. - Garden City
As the first extension of Spokane-based Brick West Brewing Co., Brick West Garden City establishes a distinct hub in a rapidly transforming district near downtown Boise. Once defined by warehouses and light industry, Garden City is quickly reshaping itself through new investment and energy. The brewery’s owners wanted to be part of that momentum — activating a prominent corner site and contributing to the district’s growth with a project that blends community, housing, and hospitality.
The mixed-use program weaves four housing units and a live-work loft together with a brewery, taproom, and retail space. At the ground level, generous patios and covered outdoor areas extend the activity of the taproom into the street, creating a vibrant public presence. Residential access is drawn deeper into the building through a central court and stair, engaging residents with the architecture rather than isolating them from it.
The design embraces the industrial legacy of the neighborhood while signaling its evolution. Strong, contemporary forms highlight the varied uses within, while material choices and massing break down the scale and create a striking identity for the corner. As one of the first new buildings in the area in years, Brick West Garden City sets a precedent for density and mixed-use vitality — positioning the brewery as both anchor and catalyst for the district’s next chapter.
